CREATOR STRATEGY · 24 JULY 2026
Go farther.
Look closer.
A practical field guide for Kerri West to turn lived experience across Asia and the Middle East into useful, culturally curious travel stories—and a credible creative business.
01 / POSITION
Not another travel feed.
A trusted cultural companion.
Kerri’s strongest strategic asset is not access to beautiful places. It is her lived context: teacher, expat, repeat Southeast Asia traveller, and someone who has called the UK, Thailand, Vietnam and the UAE home. The niche should sit where practical guidance, cultural context and mid-life reinvention overlap.
02 / CURRENT SIGNAL
What the public profile tells us
Verified from logged-in views of both Instagram profiles and the public TikTok profile on 24 July 2026. Private Insights such as reach, retention and saves remain unavailable.
Discovery potential
A pinned TikTok reached well beyond the follower base. The Instagram account is also a credible micro-creator size at 4,214 followers—large enough to pitch relevant local businesses with strong work samples.
Inspiration outweighs utility
The travel grid is attractive and geographically rich, but repeated beach views, soft affirmations and destination labels often tell viewers how a place feels—not what Kerri uniquely knows or can help them do.
Visual foundation
Natural colour, movement, food, architecture and consistent destination highlights create an inviting world. The “Home has been…” line gives immediate lived credibility.
Authority signals
Instagram shows 6,807 following versus 4,214 followers; TikTok shows 5,068 versus 2,775. Curate gradually, never mass-unfollow. More importantly, strengthen face, voice, named recommendations and proof of outcomes.
Make @wanderingwingstravel the sole growth and commercial brand. Keep @kerribkk as an archive or selectively repurpose its Bangkok vegan knowledge into a named travel series; do not divide current effort between both accounts.

03 / EDITORIAL DIRECTION
Four pillars. One clear world.
Place, decoded
Practical micro-guides with local context: etiquette, neighbourhood choices, transport, timing, cost.
Series: “Before you go…”Culture, respectfully
Small rituals, food histories, language, crafts and conversations—with permission and sources.
Series: “What this means here”Teacher abroad
Honest expat life, moving countries, classroom-to-creator transition, confidence and reinvention.
Series: “What living here taught me”Stay & experience
Hotels, tours and venues reviewed through a useful, brand-friendly lens—without losing trust.
Series: “Worth the detour?”PRIMARY AUDIENCE
The culture-curious grown-up
English-speaking women roughly 30–55 who want Southeast Asia to feel accessible, meaningful and stylish—not rushed, reckless or reduced to a checklist.
SECONDARY AUDIENCE
Brands that value trust
Boutique stays, cultural tours, food experiences, airlines, luggage, education/relocation services and destination organisations seeking articulate UGC.
Repeatable story formats
Face-to-camera opener → B-roll proof → one nuanced surprise → save prompt.
Matched cuts create a recognisable visual device and connect both geographic worlds.
Begin with one visual detail. Explain briefly, cite carefully, invite local correction.
Open with judgement, then rooms, location, service, price context and disclosure.
04 / CREATIVE BENCHMARKS
Borrow the discipline,
never the identity.

These are directional references, not like-for-like competitors. Kerri’s defensible combination is educator + expat + culturally curious Southeast Asia specialist.
05 / 90-DAY FIELD PLAN
Build proof before scale.
Clarify & establish
- Rewrite bio and create a collaboration email.
- Publish a 45–60 sec “why follow” introduction and pin it.
- Choose 4 cover templates and one subtitle style.
- Post 3 times weekly: 1 guide, 1 culture/detail, 1 personal story.
- Begin tracking views, average watch time, completion, saves, shares and profile visits.
Test & package
- Repeat the two best opening structures—not just the best topics.
- Create 3 speculative UGC samples: boutique hotel, food experience, travel product.
- Write one searchable 800–1,200 word guide for the future portfolio.
- Collaborate with two credible micro-creators or local experts.
- Create a one-page media kit with rates marked “available on request”.
Pitch & compound
- Build a list of 30 aligned brands; personalise 5 pitches each week.
- Offer a simple starter package: 1 edited vertical video + raw clips + 5 photos.
- Turn the strongest series into a weekly franchise.
- Collect testimonials and usage outcomes from first collaborations.
- Review legal/visa position before any compensated destination production.

POSITIONING LINE FOR CLIENTS
“I create warm, useful travel stories that help culturally curious adults experience Southeast Asia with more confidence and context.”
07 / CREATOR SAFETY
Travel is not always permission to work.
Visa, work authorisation, filming permission, location permission, tax and brand disclosure are separate questions. Rules change; this is a risk checklist, not legal advice.
Paid or gifted local promotion
A hotel stay, meal, tour or product exchanged for coverage can be treated as commercial activity—even without cash.
Commissioned production
A foreign brand brief, crew, talent, interviews, controlled locations or substantial equipment can trigger work and film-permit rules.
Personal travel diary
Incidental personal filming with no brief, payment, gift or promotion is generally lower risk, but restricted places, drones and privacy still matter.
Thailand
Thailand’s official film-permit guidance says foreign filmmakers use a registered local coordinator to apply. The DTV is officially described for remote workers/freelancers, but do not assume that it automatically authorises local brand jobs or every production activity.
Thailand Film Office ↗Official DTV overview ↗Indonesia
Recent 2026 reporting describes increased enforcement around creators using tourist status and references a C5A content-creator route. Before any Bali/Indonesia collaboration, verify the current visa index and sponsor/permit requirements directly with Indonesian Immigration or qualified counsel.
Indonesia eVisa portal ↗Every destination
- Get the brief, payer, benefit and intended usage in writing.
- Ask immigration counsel about the exact activity—not simply “Can I post?”
- Check location, drone, park, temple, interview and music permissions.
- Use clear ad/gift disclosures for both platform and audience trust.
- Keep releases, invoices, permits and source notes in a project folder.
